About Us - Partnerships

Xytis has established partnerships and relationships with leading healthcare companies, contract research organization and academic institutions such as:

fournier     solvay

In June 2005, Xytis and Fournier entered into a license agreement for the development and commercialization of XY2405, a potential new medication for the treatment of traumatic brain injury, originating from Fournier Pharma’s Research.

Fournier Pharma has granted Xytis an exclusive worldwide license for the development, manufacture and sale of the product containing its bradykinin B2 antagonist for traumatic brain injury and possibly other indications. In July 2006, Fournier Pharma also granted Xytis exclusive rights to manufacture the compound. Fournier Pharma was later acquired by Solvay with who Xytis maintains excellent collaboration enabling to dynamically address the development program of XY2405.

rottapharm

In January 2005, Xytis and Rottapharm S.P.A. entered into a license agreement for the development and commercialization of XY2401, a potential new psychotropic medication for the treatment of a variety of disorders. Xytis has acquired an exclusive license to develop and market the compound in the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia and New Zealand, while Rottapharm retains rights in the rest of the world.

London school of hygiene

Xytis is pursuing XY2405 clinical development in Traumatic Brain Injury with the collaboration of Professor Ian Roberts .

Pr. Roberts is professor of Epidemiology and Public Health at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine(LSHTM). Pr Robert and his team has proven capable of running large-scale TBI trials efficiently during the CRASH study, a large simple placebo controlled trial, among adults with head injury and impaired consciousness evaluating the effects of a 48 hour infusion of corticosteroids on death and neurological disability. This trial randomized 10,008 patients, the largest head injury trial ever. Currently, XY2405 is evaluated in a 400-patients phase II trial run under the auspices of the BRAIN Trial Coordinating Center at the LHTM.

In September 2006, Xytis signed a Collaborative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) to test the hypothesis that XY2401 can ameliorate cocaine addiction. Under the term of the agreement, safety studies evaluating the interaction of cocaine and XY2401 in animals and humans are conducted by the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA).

Forenap Pharma is an international Contract Research Organisation (CRO) currently conducting the phase I trials on XY2401 for Xytis.

Xytis collaborates extensively with Pr. Kelvin W. Gee, professor of Pharmacology at UC Irvine. Kelvin has pioneered work in Neuropharmacology, he has more than 20 years experience in the discovery of allosteric modulators of GABAA receptors and other ligand gated ion channels.

Kelvin, who is a serial biotechnology entrepreneur started his first company, CoCensys, in 1988. He continues to counsel academic entrepreneurs, participate in his own business ventures, and pursue academic life. He provides a tremendous support to Xytis scientific and business development activities.
